Dear friends and members of the village,
Since the inception of the Home in May 2015, you have played a key role, along with other individuals, organizations, and businesses, in helping to provide care for the Ebola orphans at the Dream Home. Because of your support, the kids have grown, progressed and made significant strides. This would not have been possible without your kind support.
An African proverb says “It takes a village to raise a child”. You have truly been a part of the Dream Home Village. We deeply appreciate you.
In January 2017, the Develop Africa and the Dream Home Board unanimously decided that it would be in the best interest of the children to place them with families. Several studies of orphaned children have demonstrated that children are better situated, physically and psychosocially adjusted in family settings.
We are very pleased to inform you that eighteen age-eligible Dream Home orphans are in the process of being adopted by several families based in the United States. We are extremely delighted for this wonderful opportunity for the children and immensely grateful to the adoptive families for opening up their hearts and homes to these orphans. The adoptive families have assumed/are in the process of assuming guardianship for the eighteen children. With this wonderful development, our partnership with the Dream Home Orphanage will cease at the end of August 2018.
Develop Africa & the Dream Home Board will continue to provide guardianship and support for the remaining four children. We are integrating these children with extended family members and placing them with foster care families or adoptive families.
We plan in the future to extend assistance to other deserving Ebola orphans.
We thank you profusely for your continued generous support as we strive to bring a brighter future for our Ebola orphans.
With great appreciation,
Amy & The Develop Africa Team
