Desperate Situation - Health Workers Quitting Because of Inadequate Personal Protective Equipment

By Sylvester Renner | Project Leader

We wish to say a very special "thank you" to YOU for supporting the global efforts to stop the Ebola epidemic.  From reports that we have received, the citizens in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Cameroon are very appreciative of your concern and support.  Thanks so much.

Her are a couple updates on the local situation in Sierra Leone.

  • Sadly, another doctor passed away yesterday, Thursday - see story here.
  • China-aided emergency humanitarian anti-Ebola medical materials have been airlifted to Sierra Leone - Read more

Stark Reality: Unfortunately, we have reliably heard that health workers have been staying away from work because they do not feel safe - with little or inadequate protective equipment.  Their absence from work is affecting other patients who may be sick for other reasons. In other words, there is still a dire need for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

We are together thankfully responding to this desperate need.  The protective gear that we are providing is literally life-saving!

Thanks to YOUR support, we have ordered a wide range of supplies (PPE) - see list below).  Yesterday, Thursday, some of these supplies (some coveralls and some nose / mouth masks - see included photos) arrived at our office in Tennessee.  More supplies are expected to arrive today, Friday and Monday, next week. We plan to air ship the items by DHL (the fastest method) early next week.  We will provide another update and photos next week showing the shipment - 1 very large box.

  • Coveralls - whole body
  • Mouth / Nose masks
  • Boot  / shoe covers
  • Gloves
  • Goggles
  • Hoods

This will help provide the needed protecting for our brave health workers.
