Two years ago, ONG EDUCATION ET DEVELOPPEMENT launched a heartfelt appeal in support of rural women in Couffo, Benin.
In several villages, these women were facing—and still face—a reality that too many rural African families know all too well: endless workdays in the fields, meager earnings compared to the effort exerted, extremely limited access to processing equipment, and the daily burden of feeding children without a safety net.
Yet, behind these hardships lies a strength we encounter village after village: remarkable resilience.
These women have never asked us for charity. They asked us for the means to work—to process what they grow, to sell what they process, and to build, with their own hands, a better future for their children.
Our project was born to answer that call. Today, after two years of mobilization, we have encouraging news to share with you: the first seeds sown are beginning to bear fruit. And the only reason we can present these advancements to you today is because of you.
1. Two Years of Solidarity That Are Already Changing Lives
Thanks to the generosity of 20 donors, and especially through the faithful support of our valued monthly donor, the initial activities of the project were able to take off.
Women have received training and coaching that allow them to better monetize the fruits of their agricultural and agro-pastoral labor today. The processing of cassava and other local products—gari, tapioca, oil, fritters—is beginning to open up real economic prospects where, just yesterday, crops were sold at a loss due to a lack of processing tools.
This change may seem modest from afar. But in a village in Couffo, a few thousand CFA francs in extra income for a mother is the difference between a child going to school and a child staying home. It is one more meal. It is a family emergency that can be met without going into debt.
That is where, in very concrete terms, the impact of a donation is measured.
2. Numbers That First Tell Human Stories
Our goal: support 277 women across 19 villages in Couffo.
To date: 95 women have already received direct support, thanks to the solidarity of our donors.
This is an important first step. But it also means that 182 women are still waiting—and behind that figure are just as many families, and hundreds of children, whose daily lives could be transformed.
What the first beneficiaries are beginning to gain:
We do not view this project as simple economic aid. We are investing in women who, in turn, invest in their families and communities.

4. A Long Road Ahead
We believe in transparency.
Our overall goal: $30,000. We still need to raise $21,044 for this project to fully achieve its vision.
The funds gathered so far have lit the first sparks. Those sparks must now grow into a true fire of transformation. We still need to reach the women who have not yet benefited from the program, strengthen training, facilitate access to equipment, and support beneficiaries all the way through to the marketing of their products.
We refuse to let the first group of women move forward while the rest are left behind. Our goal remains absolute: to offer all 277 targeted women, without exception, a real chance to build their economic independence.

Picture a woman in Couffo.
She rises before the sun. She works in the fields, takes care of her children, processes what she can with rudimentary tools, and searches every day for ways to bring home enough to feed her family.

7. Our Commitment: Turning Solidarity into Results
These two years have taught us one essential thing: rural communities in Benin lack neither ideas nor courage. Above all, they need the right opportunities made accessible to them.
We will therefore continue to prioritize:
Our goal is not to create aid dependency. Our goal is to create the conditions under which these women can one day thrive independently.
