HELP 20 DISABLED CHILDREN IN INDIA FIGHT AUTISM (# 36030 )
(A project by Balajothi Centre for the Disabled Trust)
Report due on Jan 30.2019 : Report sent on Jan 14, 2019
Amount raised by GlobalGiving to date : $ 47.60
About 1 in 100 children in India under age 10 has autism, and nearly 1 in 8 has at least one neuro-developmental condition. The estimates are based on the first rigorous study of its kind in the country.
Autism Quick Facts
The incidence of Autism is on the rise. According to estimates from U S one in every 60 children has Autism. Clinical data from India indicates a similar rate.
Autism is a lifelong condition that has no medical cure. Recent research indicates that intensive early intervention provides the best possible outcome for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
We at Balajothi are always on the lookout for any child with Autism, in our routine travels to our CBR campsites. More than any thing, these children need love and understanding and not disciplinary activities, physical training etc. These children generally look like normal children unlike the physically disabled children. So we caution parents of such children who have a history of missed milestones to immediately approach an institution closer to their home for early interventional remedies.
We thank YOU, DONOR, for your generous giving, through GlobalGiving, to support such children. It is in your hand to create a magical change in the dreary lives of these neglected children. If you are interested, as I am sure you are, to help such children wherever they are, I strongly urge you to do so because the effects of autism can only grow worse without intervention programs. And believe me when I say that as I am a person witness to the difficult lives these children, and their family members lead, due to this most dreaded of disabilities.
Thank you for your support and intervention and may the good God’s blessing be upon each of you who helps this noble cause.
