To combat climate change and make earth cooler, you need forests. To transform degraded land to healthy productive forests, you need tree nurseries to supply seedlings.
Thanks to you, the WeForest project in Amhara now has three flourishing community-based nurseries in operation.
Working alongside local villagers, we are now raising seedlings to plant when the rains arrive this summer! With knowledge, patience and care, the nursery workers are making sure the seedlings are strong enough to be transplanted and flourish into a healthy forest before handing them over to the planting team. 787,302 young trees from 12 different species are currently growing in the nurseries.
These nurseries are good for the climate. They're also a great source of income. 50 villagers from the nearby villages of Amar Webesh, Kidus Yohanes and Gusquam are earning a steady income for their families by managing the day-to-day operations.
With such generous supporters, we have managed to fund these nurseries. Thank you for joining our movement to Make Earth Cooler.
