Humanitarian Project Progress Report – INUKA Congo

Context and Justification

For over two decades, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has endured the devastating consequences of armed conflicts. Thousands of civilians — men, women, children, and former soldiers — have lost limbs due to landmines, violence, or disease.
Most live without access to affordable prosthetics or rehabilitation care. The lack of support traps them in social exclusion, deep poverty, and total dependency.

Project Objective

The “Help Disabled Congolese Walk with 3D Limbs” project aims to restore mobility and dignity to amputees in Goma and Bukavu through locally made 3D-printed prosthetic limbs.
By combining scanning technology, custom design, and local physiotherapy, INUKA Congo provides a fast, low-cost, and sustainable solution tailored to the needs of Congolese communities.

Implementation

Our 3D production center in Goma, supported by GlobalGiving, is currently in the operational preparation phase.
At this stage:

  • We are identifying trainers and trainees who will participate in prosthetic fabrication and rehabilitation.
  • The official launch is planned for November 2025.
  • The first beneficiaries will be amputees from the most vulnerable communities.

Each patient will be scanned, modeled, fitted, and supported throughout a complete rehabilitation process.
This local approach ensures affordable production and tangible human impact.

Expected Impact

This project will have a life-changing effect on hundreds of people:

  • Restored mobility and independence.
  • Reduced poverty and unemployment among people with disabilities.
  • Social and school reintegration for amputated children.
  • Job creation and local skill development in digital manufacturing.

In the long term, this model will be expanded across the Great Lakes Region, helping to build an African network of accessible 3D prosthetics.

Budget and Funding

The total project budget is estimated at $95,000 USD.
Thanks to our partnership with GlobalGiving, we have already raised $20 USD — a small but meaningful start.
We remain confident that, through global solidarity, we will reach our goal before the official launch.

Call for Support

We make a heartfelt appeal to all donors, partners, and friends of humanity:
every contribution, large or small, helps an amputee walk again.
By supporting INUKA Congo, you give more than a limb — you give back movement, work, and dignity to lives shattered by war.

Acknowledgements

We extend our deep gratitude to our early donors and to GlobalGiving for their invaluable collaboration.
Your trust strengthens our resolve to move forward and build a future where every Congolese amputee can walk again.

INUKA Congo – Together, let’s restore mobility, dignity, and hope.
