Dear Trusted Partner,
We are reaching out with an update on our crucial project in Sierra Leone, designed to dismantle the barriers that prevent girls from accessing equitable, inclusive and quality education. While the need is immense and the potential impact transformative, we are far from reaching our funding goal, and we urgently need your support to make this vision a reality.
This vital initiative aims to empower girls in Sierra Leone by providing scholarships, mentorship and essential learning support. Our goal is to ensure they stay in school, overcome profound cultural and economic challenges, and build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.
Funding Status Update:
As you can see, we have only raised a minimal amount, leaving a significant gap to meet our target.
Sierra Leone faces staggering challenges, ranking among the top ten countries globally for teenage pregnancy, with rates between 28.3% and 34% (BMC Public Health, March 2023). This, coupled with the geographic isolation of secondary schools in rural areas and widespread poverty, creates immense barriers for girls. Parents often struggle to afford education, making girls vulnerable to child marriage and limiting their opportunities. Without intervention, countless girls risk their education being cut short, perpetuating cycles of poverty and inequality.
This project is meticulously designed to educate and empower 100 girls in Sierra Leone. Our comprehensive approach includes:
The long-term impact of this project is profound. Girls will be able to enroll, be retained and complete their education with dignity. They will develop the resilience to resist exploitation and become powerful advocates for their own rights and the issues affecting them. Parents will be empowered to protect their children from child marriage and teenage pregnancy. Ultimately, these girls will become self-employed individuals and job creators, overcoming financial challenges and fostering a new generation of empowered women who can transform their communities.
The progress towards our $15,000 goal for this critical project is alarmingly slow, with $14,938 still needed. Every day that passes without full funding means more girls in Sierra Leone face the risk of their education being interrupted. We have a clear plan and a proven approach, but we cannot achieve this without your immediate and generous support.
Please consider making a significant contribution today to help us bridge this crucial funding gap. Your donation, no matter the size, will directly support 100 girls, providing them with education, mentorship and skills they need to break cycles of poverty and build a future of dignity and opportunity.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this pressing need.
Warmly,
The Girls Education Mission International Team
