The school year started rough in Mali. The teachers were on strike for over half of the reporting period. We made an arrangement with the school’s director to have our children be transferred to another school where teachers where not on strike. Because of this initiative, our children were able to normally continue their schooling. The first semester completed well in December and the children all passed their exams with flying colors. The extracurricular classes were not affected by the strikes. Due to these issues and the uncertainty of the education system’s reliability, we made a decision to have our children attend private school next academic year. The children had the pleasure of spending Christmas with the Harris’ who have brought them gifts and volunteered at the orphanage this year.
