Thanks to the generous support of our GlobalGiving donors, the Deaf Welfare Awareness Foundation (DWAF) continues to expand its efforts to protect Deaf girls and women through awareness, education, and prevention.
Over the past months, our team has successfully conducted more than 10 harassment prevention and safeguarding sessions across multiple districts of Punjab. These interactive sessions were designed specifically for Deaf participants, using accessible communication in sign language to ensure every participant fully understood the content.
The sessions covered important topics including:
- Recognizing different forms of harassment and abuse
- Understanding personal safety and boundaries
- Building confidence to report inappropriate behavior
- Knowing where and how to seek help
- Promoting self-advocacy and informed decision-making
Many participants shared that this was the first time they had received information on these sensitive topics in a language they could fully understand. Parents, teachers, and community members also expressed their appreciation for these awareness sessions and emphasized the need to continue reaching more underserved areas.
This progress has been made possible because of the generosity of our GlobalGiving supporters. Your contributions are helping Deaf girls gain the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to protect themselves and build safer, more independent futures.
DWAF remains committed to expanding this initiative across more districts of Pakistan, ensuring that no Deaf girl is left behind in accessing essential safety education.
Thank you for standing with us and making this life-changing work possible.
