Modern slavery in North Korea forces many to brutal labor camps producing goods, such as eyelashes, wigs, or sports garments that infiltrate stores in America and Europe under deceptive "Made in China" labels. NKHR is supporting survivors of this modern slavery by providing humanitarian aid programs, amplifying survivor stories to break the cycle of exploitation, and demanding transparency from brands and governments. "Not in Our Supply Chains": Can you help us provide justice to the victims?
North Korea remains one of the most repressive regimes in the world, making it extraordinarily difficult to investigate and expose human rights abuses. North Korean survivors endure lifelong trauma from torture, trafficking, forced labor, and sexual abuse, yet they yearn to witness justice. Meanwhile, organizations dedicated to helping them, like NKHR, face severe funding cuts, threatening their ability to continue vital work, inadvertently empowering North Korea to continue its repression.
For three decades, NKHR has been investigating crimes against humanity in North Korea, providing education, integration, and community programs to North Korean women and youth who escaped to South Korea, connecting survivors with legal support, and advocating for accountability on the global stage. With your support for this project, we can sustain programs for victims and their families, expose the truth, and ensure that North Korean perpetrators and their enablers are held accountable.
This project aims to bring justice to victims of North Korea's modern forms of slavery. By exposing the truth, investigating crimes, pressuring global actors, and supporting survivors, NKHR seeks to: 1) Ensure accountability for human rights abuses through legal action; 2) Empower survivors to rebuild their lives with dignity and security; 3) Demand global action to prevent complicity in slavery-tainted supply chains; 4) Investigate and expose crimes against humanity inside the country.
