It's already been a great year with our new project opening in Battersea on Tuesdays and the continuous increase in guests to our other projects.
We have been lucky enough to be offered a space at the London Cooking Project in the heart of a Battersea estate. This presents opportunities and challenges. On one hand there are thousands of people at our doorstep. On the otherhand they are all in flats and locked securely up. We are breaking down these barriers with our cheerful smiles, delicious food and constant door knocking. Our guest are ranging from teenagers who are learning how to cook to grown men who live alone, who are also learning how to cook! Its great to introduce people to a wide variety of vegetables and show them what they can do on a small budget.
Our Graveney project again gains momentum with our regulars reaching 45 in numbers with around 25 new faces every week. The range spreads from elderly to parents with newborns so we have wide spread from the community and they are becoming closer and more supportive of each other. A heart warming moment when some elderly people brought in some blankets for some middle aged men who were sleeping rough. We know that the real issue here is homelessnes, but as we dont have the power to fix the problem we can at least put a bandage on it.
So thats all for this update, but we thank you for your assistance in helping us get this far. We hope to open another kitchen in October focusing on working with homeless people and people where English is not thier first language. We'll be getting students from around the world to support us with this.
Untill,
Reduce, Reuse, repair, recycle, reap the benifits
