Update progress report on our project

By James Rosita Nkeiruka | Project Leader

We are immensely grateful for your kindness, generosity, and expression of solidarity to our project, "HELP FIGHT AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN S/EAST (54441).

In the past three months of our last project report, we haven't received donation from donors through GlobalGiving. As at the time of this report, the last disbursement on the project, HELP FIGHT AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN S/EAST (54441) was dated 26th January, 2022. The recent donations from donors are yet to be disbursed.

Balance of last project report expenditure: Balance= $-82.65

Due to high rate of inflation and economic challenges, it has not been easy for us in carrying out our humanitarian services.

One thing we need to understand is that, Gender-based violence is a human rights violation. Freedom from violence is a fundamental human right, and gender-based violence undermines a person's sense of self-worth and self-esteem. It affects not only physical health but also mental health and may lead to self-harm, isolation, depression and suicidal attempts.

Women and girls may experience severe physical injuries, unwanted pregnancies and exposure to HIV or other sexually transmitted infections. Depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the limited ability to complete daily tasks, and suicidal thoughts are also common.

Girls and women across Nigeria are falling victim to sexual assault, rape, and human trafficking. In response, The Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian foundation is supporting an important initiative to prevent gender-based violence in Southeast. SOHF will launch an intensive program of education with 200 students in a in rural southeast school to understand and prevent sexual violence. We expect to change many young lives and will share the results widely.

Once again, thank you for your generous donation to "HELP FIGHT AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN S/EAST (54441) that supported these efforts. As the crises rages on, insecurity, uncertainty, and humanitarian needs abound. We are committed to providing humanitarian and long-term support to women and girls in rural communities.

Besides, the September Little by Little Matching Campaign is right around the corner once again. GlobalGiving’s September 2022 Little by Little campaign will last 5 days, from September 12, 2022, at 00:00:00 EDT to September 16, 2022, at 23:59:59 EDT. During the September 2022 Little by Little campaign, all eligible donations up to $50 USD per unique donor per organization will be matched at 50% for the duration of the campaign and we will keep you informed about how your donation is impacting the lives of people who are suffering because of this shortage.

Warmest regards,

Samonyemaechi humanitarian.
