Thank you for your generous donation to fight against gender base violence in southeast, Nigeria. Contributions like yours are continuing to make a difference. They are supporting Sam Onyemaechi humanitarian Foundation's response efforts and delivering crucial help and hope to people in need amid hostilities, constant stress, and difficult conditions away from home.
We cannot but express our sincere heart of appreciation for your generosity towards our cause in fighting hunger and food insecurity in Southeast, Nigeria.
We tried our best to educate the indigents and Less privileged rural communities on the need to be self reliance and to utilize every opportunity to be independent of themselves, to start a small and medium size business.
We initiated a body termed "Gender justice® and women's rights initiative program" to fight for the rights of women in all spheres of life . Seminars and workshops are organized twice in every month to speak on these projects:
1) PAD A YOUNG ADULT DAMSEL WITH SANITARY PAD A MONTH
2) Help fight against gender-base violence in Southeast Nigeria
3) Train 3k widows in snail farming in Southeast, Nigeria
4) Fostering women entrepreneurship in the digital Economy
We constituted fourteen personnel who organized workshops and seminars to look into the aforementioned project topics that concern women empowerment and development.
We initiated this program termed "Gender Justice and women's right initiative program" to improve safeguarding for women, young adults and vulnerable adults in work and education spaces in Nigeria. The women's rights include the right to live free from violence and discrimination; to enjoy the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health; to be educated; to own property; to vote; and to earn an equal wage. But across the globe many women and girls still face discrimination on the basis of sex and gender. The initiative will address power asymmetries that enable gender-based violence in Nigerian institutions and organizations.
One thing we need to understand is that, Gender-based violence is a human rights violation. Freedom from violence is a fundamental human right, and gender-based violence undermines a person's sense of self-worth and self-esteem. It affects not only physical health but also mental health and may lead to self-harm, isolation, depression and suicidal attempts.
Women and girls may experience severe physical injuries, unwanted pregnancies and exposure to HIV or other sexually transmitted infections. Depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the limited ability to complete daily tasks, and suicidal thoughts are also common.
Girls and women across Nigeria are falling victim to sexual assault, rape, and human trafficking. In response, The Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian foundation is supporting an important initiative to prevent gender-based violence in the Southeast. SOHF will launch an intensive program of education with 200 students in rural southeast school to understand and prevent sexual violence. We expect to change many young lives and will share the results widely.
