Emergency Support for Flood Victims in Kogi State

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for supporting this urgent project to help flood victims in Ibaji and Lokoja, Kogi State. Your concern brings hope to families who have lost almost everything to repeated flooding.

Each year, heavy floods destroy homes, farms, schools, and clinics in these communities. Lokoja sits at the meeting point of Rivers Niger and Benue, and the same river path runs through Idah to Ibaji, making flooding severe and widespread. In recent floods, over 170,000 people were displaced in Ibaji alone, while more than 1.4 million people were affected in Lokoja. Many families now live in overcrowded shelters or open spaces, without food, clean water, or medical care. With the 2025 rainy season expected to be worse, the risk is even greater.

This project aims to provide emergency food, clean water, shelter materials, medical care, and mental health support to affected families. It also includes small cash support and early recovery help to enable families to restart farming and rebuild their lives.

At this time, the donations received are not yet enough to begin implementation. However, we remain hopeful that continued support will allow us to respond quickly and save lives.

Thank you for standing with flood-affected families.

With thanks,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
Project Leader
