Valuable Girl: Empower 100,000 Girls in Egypt

In the deep south of Egypt, where opportunities can be scarce but dreams are limitless, something remarkable is happening. Through the Valuable Girl project, college-aged Big Sisters are becoming powerful agents of change for their younger peers, the Little Sisters, by utilizing AI to improve the Little Sister’s school attainment.

Recently, the Big Sisters received hands-on training in using artificial intelligence to make learning more exciting and effective. This innovative step equips the Big Sisters to break down complex subjects and explain them to the Little Sisters in clearer and more engaging ways.

Take the example of Laila, a Big Sister in the project, who began to create teaching videos with personalized messages addressing her Little Sister, Iman, by name. Laila’s goal is to increase her attention during studying time. She wanted to help her Little Sister, Iman, understand difficult math problems and concepts that once felt out of reach.

You should’ve seen Iman’s eyes light up, and her face glowing with joy, the first time she saw Lila’s video of math. “It’s talking to me?” Iman screamed with amazement. “There are funny characters in the video. It made me laugh and learn how I can solve my math problems faster,” Iman told us about Laila’s math video.

For girls who are often overlooked, being seen, heard, and taught in such a personalized way is a game-changer.

This creative use of AI isn’t just exciting for little girls who struggle with their education, it’s transformational. It helps them enjoy learning instead of being burdened by it. Nonetheless, it inspires Little Sisters to stay curious and imagine new possibilities.

What’s more inspiring is how these young women who live in underserved rural areas are embracing new global trends and inventions to accomplish their learning goals.
