Our innovative participatory leadership training for girls’ increases their self-confidence and empowers them to contribute to the well-being of their communities.
Girls are faced with harmful social norms like child marriage and FGM but they cannot change those norms alone. This training gives them new knowledge and strengthens their relationships with mothers and grandmothers. When the three generations of women are united, they can act collectively to influence the wider community, to prevent harmful traditional beliefs and practices that limit girls options and futures.
We have seen that girls who participate in this training become confident leaders in their communities. Our goal in this school year is to replicate the innovative leadership training of four-days, based on African Values for 40 more girls.
We are grateful to GlobalGiving community that has been helping Grandmother Project – Change through Culture (GMP) to achieve impactful leadership training for 60 adolescent girls since the beginning of 2023.
With your support, we can transform the lives of children in Senegal – particularly those of girls.
