Project Summary

The city of Goma, deeply scarred by years of conflict, is home to a large number of orphaned children. These vulnerable children, often stripped of family support, live in extreme hardship. While orphanages provide some assistance, they struggle to supply decent and adequate clothing.

The project “Help Goma’s Orphans Thrive with Essential Clothing”, in partnership with GlobalGiving, aims to provide these children with essential clothing. This is not just about dressing them—it’s an act of dignity, confidence, and social inclusion.

The Problem

• Humanitarian Context: Goma continues to suffer from the consequences of war and instability. Many children are orphaned and exposed to extreme poverty, social exclusion, and deep trauma.
• Unmet Needs: Orphanages are doing admirable work but face major resource shortages. The lack of appropriate clothing impacts children's health, self-esteem, and social integration.
• Psychological Impact: Wearing decent clothing is essential for personal development. Poorly dressed children are often stigmatized, which affects their confidence and future potential.

The funds will be used to purchase clothing (outfits, underwear, shoes) and support distribution logistics in close collaboration with local orphanages.
