Help Goma's Orphans Thrive with Essential Clothing

1. Project Background

In the city of Goma, deeply affected by years of conflict, many children have lost their parents and now live in orphanages. While these institutions play a vital role, they often lack the resources to meet all the children’s basic needs—especially clothing.
Yet, wearing clean and appropriate clothes is not just about comfort; it is essential for dignity, self-confidence, and social integration.

2. Problem Statement

Many orphans live with little or no proper clothing. This situation directly affects:

• their self-esteem,
• their ability to integrate socially,
• their personal development.

Despite their dedication, orphanages do not always have sufficient resources to meet these needs.

3. Project Objective

This project aims to provide decent clothing and shoes to orphaned children in Goma in order to:

• restore their dignity,
• strengthen their self-confidence,
• improve their overall well-being and social integration.

4. Current Progress

Thanks to the generosity of early donors and the collaboration with GlobalGiving, the project has already raised $701 USD out of a total budget of $3000 USD.

These initial funds have already made a tangible impact by:

• purchasing essential clothing,
• providing several pairs of shoes,
• distributing them directly to children at the Leve-moi center, bringing immediate relief and visible joy.

5. Ongoing Activities

The team is currently working on:

• identifying beneficiaries,
• coordinating with local orphanages,
• preparing logistics for the next distribution phase.

The project will be fully launched in November 2025.
