Hi
Thanks for your support towards Mountains of Hope programmes and this one in particular suporting Harriet continue life even after school, this particular project wouldnt have supported childrens education had it not been because of you, however due to the out break of the corona pandemic, a total lock down was declared in Uganda, people coud nt access their places of work apart from health workers, Harriet is one of the health workers who continued being on duty even during the lock down, Harriet narrates that their facility has not yet received a covid19 case but they take every patient as a suspect, Harriet also says that since people were not working, most eople cannot now access propoer medical care as they donot have money, Harriet and her tem spend a whole day without receiving a single patient, " some people now prefer self medication, either using local herbs or they buy cheaper anti biotics from drug stores" narrates Harriet.
The total number of Covid 19 cases in Uganda as of today stands at 741, 486 recoveries and no deaths, every other day, the numbers keep increasing especially from the truck drivers that carry cargo across boarders, the truck drivers infect Ugandan contacts hence increased community infections, the government of Uganda is most likely not to open public gathering places like places of worship, schools and crowded business centers, lucky enough Harriethad completed her education, but there are some other children that wereat school and are now at home during this lock down.
The Mountains f Hope project is considering finding them self study materials to enable them continue school even while at home, there are local educational institutions which offer study material at a cost so that chidren keep studying even while at home, Mountains of Hope is cosidering enabling children in rural communities access self study materials so that they are not left behind especially those that donot have radios, smart phones or television sets in their homes, we have a project planned $30 per child to access self study materials to enable them continue schooling even when at home, at the moment this project is enabling Harriet continue life even after school, but one coud consider making an additional $30 to enable one other child to access education amidst this lock down due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
We will be happy if you considered giving a child an education even amidst the corona pandemic, $30 per hild for 10 children.
