We have shared with you many success stories of how this project has helped older girls stay in school. Today, we are sharing an instance where we hope there will be a happy ending. Our project funds for so far this year, are already being used helping other girls stay in school.
In early February, we learned unexpected news that Francesca's prior sponsor was not going to be able to sponsor her this year. We are hoping that additional funds can be generated through this project, or that we might get positive news that someone is stepping up to sponsor her for this school year.
Francesca is a top performing student and comes from one of the poorest families in our district when most families are to various degrees "poor". So, we hope that she does not meet an abrupt end to her education this year.
We can say that many times our stories of children needing sponsors have happy endings. And we remain very excited that 68 girls are in seventh grade or above as a result of Outreach Uganda's efforts in finding sponsors and project support. In this case, Francesca's story hangs in the balance as we wait to see what happens.
We know that this year so far has been unpredictable for many of our U.S. based donors. We are still hoping that donors will still contribute from their abundance to help girls in our area of northern Uganda who come from families often living on less than $2 per day.
We say a big thank YOU to all of you who have donated for this project! If you know of friends, family or co-workers who might be willing to donate to this project and help Francesca and other girls like her, please share this email with them!
