The borders have opened up and Americans are traveling again after years of pandemic lockdown. For most, this will be a rewarding experience. But tragically not for everyone.
Our crisis inbox this summer reflects the increased need for services. Every day American victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, forced marriage and sex trafficking in foreign countries are reaching out to us desperate for help.
And it is because of your support to this project that we have been able to provide ongoing emotional support, safety planning, legal information, referrals to other resources and so much more via ourconfidential crisis email.
Victims like Songa who thought she was visiting her grandparents for the summer in Columbia who is being forced into an arranged marriage by her father.
Victims like Eden who thought she and her children were just going on a visit to Jordan but they are now trapped there by her husband.
Victims like Jen who is desperate to escape Ireland and get home with her children to escape a violent husband who is sexually abusing her daughter.
Victims like Heather who thought her on-line boyfriend was the love of her life until she flew abroad to meet him in person and he started sex-trafficking her.
Yes, these stories are heartbreaking. But you are giving them hope and a chance to escape violence every day with your support of this project.
