Abigail is just one of the 100 children we have helped so far this year because their American mothers, abused, isolated and scared in a foreign country were able to communicate with Pathways via our crisis email.
Abigail's father was violent with her mother in front of Abigail. Her grades at school were dropping and she was becoming withdrawn and quiet.
We communicated with Abigail's mother for months helping her understand what possible options she had and what the outcomes may be. We connected her to the American Embassy, attorney's in the USA for consultations on how the Hague Convention may impact her and provided ongoing emotional support.
Finally, Abigail's mom felt she had done enough preparation and decided to flee home with Abigail.
Her abusive husband is trying to force her to legally return Abigail to him abroad. She is well prepared and well supported and her attorney's feel she will be able to keep Abigail in the USA. Abigail is settling in well back at home and her grades are improving.
As in Abigail's mothers case, support via our crisis email can last months and often times more than a year.
Your donations make this onging support possible so children like Abigail can live life free of abuse.
Thank you from the Pathways' Team!
