Sylvia is only one of the 33 adult victims that Pathways has helped in the first 1/4 of 2025.
Like so many other desperate American victims in foreign countries, Sylvia was terrified of trying to navigate across international borders to escape domestic violence and child abuse with her son Aiden.
Pathways' crisis email became her guiding light. For weeks via dozens of email communications, we safety planned with Sylvia, provided a legal consultation, emotional support and connections to shelter in the USA. We advocated with the American Embassy and the US Department of State to issue replacement passports.
Because of your donations, Sylvia was able to make informed decisions and escape back to the safety of the USA with her son Aiden! They are safe and living in a domestic violence shelter, and receiving services to help them re-establish their lives at home.
Thank you so much for believing in our mission and supporting our crisis email!
Gratefully,
The Pathways' Team
