Thank you for supporting La Serenissima's recordings of Brescianello Opus 1. Here's an update on plans for Brescianello Opus 1 Volume 2. Adrian writes of this album:
'Brescianello Unlocked' features the second half of Brescianello’s Opus 1; works 1 – 6 were released as Behind Closed Doors in 2022. La Serenissima passionately believe that Brescianello is a composer who deserves greater recognition with the result that many of his works have been included in releases dating from 2019, our first release on Signum. Solo concertos for violin alternate with Sinphonias for strings and continuo; both forms illustrate Brescianello’s talent for fusing virtuosity with the sweetest of melodies. Also included on the album is an orchestral suite in A major that finishes with a rousing Giga.
The album will be a companion volume to Behind Closed Doors, containing a World premiere recording of the orchestral suite in A. It showcases Brescianello's dazzling blend of Vivaldian brilliance with a thorough grasp of Germanic harmony
Brescianello is one of those composers who prove that you don’t have to be famous in order to produce music of the highest quality. The concertos in e and c minor are particularly eyebrow-raising whilst the slow movements display Brescianello as a deeply soulful musician.
Baroque music doesn’t get better than this!
The eagle-eyed of our followers will have spotted that An Englishman Abroad is being prepared for release shortly, in May 2023. This is to coincide with the Coronation of King Charles III, on account of the Carolean themes of the project. Brescianello does make it onto that album however, so do watch out for it.
We look forward to releasing Brescianello Unlocked in October 2023 on the Signum label.
