We are thrilled by the widespread support we received during the months of April, May and June a sum of $7,219.25 has been disbursed to our Project. Each contribution will make a big difference in the lives of LGBT we serve in Dar es Salaam and later in the entire country. The funds we have raised and still raising will allow us to more confidently establish the first and only Gay clinic that will provide free quality health services to the poor LGBT people who are routinely denied the services due to their sex orientation The project team have already identified a contractor and made site visits at Vingunguti Health facility where the first Clinic will be established. To minimize costs the project team agreed appointed the contractor to renovate and furnish 2 available containers to meet hospitals standards so that the clinic can start to function before the end of this year.
The project team has also identified 22 LGBT who are to be trained as peer educators to help in the daily running especially counseling and follow up on the penitents who are HIV positive. Michael John is a gay and HIV positive, He narrates ``I had lost hope of getting treatment because I could not access treatment in all the public facilities I visited, because everyone condemns me for being gay, my friend helped me buy medicine from a nearby pharmacy but I do not get better. I`m now happy for this first clinic, it is the only hope for people like me who are rejected everywhere and make us vulnerable. Thanks to the donors who are helping this happen. Thank you for contributing to this important project. We still have a long way to go before the Clinic will be complete. Please visit our project page and share it with others who may be interested in supporting the poor LGBT in Tanzania."
