Activity: Implementation of water collection systems to irrigate grasslands during dry season to improve llama nutrition.

Outcome: 86290 feet of hose water irrigation systems were installed at 5 high-Andean communities benefitting 121 families and 2420 llamas that provide work opportunities through tourism packing services, which through alternative income, help improve the quality of life of 545 people.

Delivery and installation: Water irrigation system materials included irrigation hose and connectors. Each path will collect water from a source that has running water all year round and will allow to irrigate the family parcels that have no water during dry season. This will allow for natural pasture to grow year-round and help llamas be stronger and healthier during dry season and possible droughts. These llamas provide work opportunities to the high-Andean families through packing services for the tourism industry. Income generated using these llamas will help improve the quality of life of all family members. The lengths of hose irrigation system delivered at each community were established according to the local geography and water access points.

Huacahuasi: 23000 feet of hose and connectors were delivered on May 31st 22 to 35 families of Huacahuasi high-Andean community. This will improve pasture for 700 llamas that help generate alternative income benefitting a total of 158 people.

Quishuarani: 19000 feet of hose and connectors were delivered on August 3rd 22 to 28 families of Quishuarani high-Andean community. This will improve pasture for 560 llamas that help generate alternative income benefitting a total of 126 people.

Cancha Cancha: 20341 feet of hose and connectors were delivered on October 30th 22 to 14 families of Cancha Cancha high-Andean community. This will improve pasture for 280 llamas that help generate alternative income benefitting a total of 63 people.

Cuncani: 21325 feet of hose and connectors were delivered on February 12th 23 to 41 families of Cuncani high-Andean community. This will improve pasture for 820 llamas that help generate alternative income benefitting a total of 185 people.

Sutoc Paccha: 2625 feet of hose and connectors were delivered on February 12th 23 to 3 families of Sutoc-Paccha high-Andean community. This will improve pasture for 60 llamas that help generate alternative income benefitting a total of 14 people.
