Renatus, 31 Years Old.
‘’A Fight For Education’’
Renatus was born in Kwimba, Mwanza,(Noth Western Tanzania) as the third of 14 children. His parents, subsistence farmers, believed that sons should remain home to care for their elders while daughters were destined for marriage. Despite this, Renatus was determined to pursue education.
In 2003, he started primary school, excelling in his studies with the hope that his father would send him to secondary school. In 2009, he graduated with a respectable Grade B, only to be told that no one in his or her family had ever pursued further education—so he would not either. His parents placed their faith in superstition rather than learning.
Determined, Renatus began selling mangoes, traveling over 140 kilometers to source and sell them, hoping to fund his education. When he saved enough, his parents refused to let him enroll. In 2010, he moved to Mara to work as a domestic helper, but promises of schooling never materialized. In 2012, he relocated to Dar es Salaam to manage a business and was encouraged to embrace the Seventh-day Adventist faith, deepening his connection with spirituality.
In 2023, after engaging in various church studies, he became a religious teacher and participated in conferences nationwide. A pivotal moment in Chalinze led him to meet a professor from the University of Dar es Salaam, who recognized his potential and offered to sponsor him for a six-month Ministerial course in Arusha , near Jifundishe.
With newfound hope, Renatus enrolled, completing the course successfully. However, his ambition didn’t stop there—he joined Jifundishe in January 2025 to pursue secondary education through the Qualified Test program. His ultimate goal is to earn a Bachelor's degree in Theology and change his family's and community’s perception of education, proving that knowledge is a pathway to transformation.
