Help pay teachers in Haiti

Hello from EIM Haiti. This update is one of the hardest we've had to write as it's been a very challenging time for Haiti at large and our school personally.

First, as you may have read, the country has been undergoing increasing violence from gangs, especially in the Port-au-Prince area. Most recently the attacks on Clercine police stations and the international airport hit very close to home and we've had to pause classes for a period of time to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Several members of our team, including our principal Enock, have also had to temporarily relocate their families to other regions for greater safety. Now with the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry we will have to wait and see what changes occur, hopefully for the better but it's a very uncertain time to say the least.

In more personal news, about a month ago, we suffered the devastating loss of our dear teacher Lepty from a sudden blood infection that caused rapid renal failure. He was only 47. Lepty was not only a teacher, but a true leader in our community and also used his psychology background to host mental health work workshops and Healing Circles for our students, which is something we need now more than ever. We are doing everything we can to support his family and our community who are shocked and heartbroken.

But despite all these hardships, as always, EIM Haiti is here. We are unwavering of our support of our EIM family and thank you for your continued partnership.
