Dear project supporters,
Thank you for your support in our ongoing efforts to reverse deforestation in Freetown, Sierra Leone. To help reverse deforestation, Develop Africa planted a hundred seedlings in 2017 and on June 27, 2018, an additional hundred seedlings were planted in Sierra Leone. You can see more photos in the photo album and watch the seedlings being planted in this video.
These seedlings will help provide protective cover on the land and help prevent soil erosion. Plants and trees slow down water as it flows over the land and this allows much of the rain to soak into the ground. Plant roots also hold the soil in position and prevent it from being blown or washed away.
Due to the extent of the deforestation in Sierra Leone, this is a long-term endeavor with no quick fix. Your on-going support is much appreciated as we continue to follow the steps recommended by the local Environmental Protection Agency to reverse the deforestation and better protect Sierra Leone in the future. Together we can help ensure a safer future for the next generation.
With great appreciation,
The Develop Africa Team
