In this final newsletter of the year, we would like to share an amazing experience with you.
Last month, our Dance Club members were invited to perform at the Central Kalimantan Cultural Park, located in Palangkaraya, about an hour’s drive from our library. The event was organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Palangkaraya. In addition to the YUM Dance Club, nine other local dance studios also participated. All of the performers were invited to enliven the event and promote local cultural wisdom through their performances.
Our Dance Club presented the Anak Harati dance, which was created by our tutor, Ms. Yeyen. Harati comes from the Dayak language and means “good character.” The dance tells the story of a group of children who enjoy helping their parents and cleaning their home environment with happy hearts, laughter, and playfulness. The dance uses several props: a sarong, which represents children waking up and immediately tidying up by folding their sarongs, and broom props, which symbolize children cleaning their surroundings.
When our Dance Club members performed, the audience watched and applauded enthusiastically. They gave direct compliments to the dancers, saying that their performance was very good and comparable to that of experienced dance studios. The audience also remarked that our children danced confidently and freely, without any nervousness at all, even while performing on such a large stage.
This performance was a proud moment for our children and a meaningful milestone for our Dance Club. It showed that with encouragement, guidance, and opportunities, our children are capable of growing in confidence and expressing their talents on a larger stage. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
As we are approaching the end of 2025, we would like to wish you happy holidays! As the year ends, we would like to ask you for one final donation in 2025 towards this project. Any gift, big or small, will help us continue our work. From all of us at Yayasan Usaha Mulia, thank you again and we wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
