Masks are an essential part of the protection against COVID 19.
In Burkina Faso masks are mandatory since May, unfortunatly there is no real enforcement of this rule. People keep going around specially onvery busy markets without masks.
Test availability for coronavirus is really limited and information coming from the government about number of casis not really reliable.
In the rural area, distancing, hand washing and masks are rules which are even less followed. Distancing is not easy in a place where social contact is very important specially at funerals. Hand washing needs soap which is not always available. Masks have a costs which the villagers cannot afford.
It is the period in the villages in Burkina Faso when the food (from last year harvest) is getting very low until the harvest of this year not coming before september for aome of teh crops. A difficult time.
We cannot change the way people live, but we can help them to stay healthy by providing them with masks and by doing awareness meeting about the need to wear them.
Thank you for your donation, but we need more in order to achieve our goal of 10.000 masks.
Please communicate this project to your network. What is important for developped country is even more important for developping countries.
