The summer tour is well on its way and we have now visited over 40 tour stops throughout Sweden! At least another 15 stops will be carried out before the summer is over. We want to be able to reach as many people as possible with the message of animal rights. To get people enthused about an animal-friendly lifestyle, we have arranged 10 vegan barbecue nights around the country and they have been very successful.
During the tour, we have distributed hundreds of pamphlets about the situation for the animals in the food industry and also hundreds of pamphlets with vegan recipes.
As we have mentioned before, the tour this summer focuses on the inadequate situation for all the pigs who are suffering in the Swedish food industry. 98 % of all pigs in the Swedish food industry are kept indoors without the ability to fulfil their needs and interests. In order to feel good, pigs need to spend most of the day to search for food by rooting, feeding and exploring their environment. In the Swedish food industry pigs are not able to exercise their natural behaviours.
On Djurens Rätts Summer Tour we want to raise awareness about the poor living situation for pigs and create a strong public opinion that wants to see pigs outdoors.
So far, we have collected about 2000 names in our petition for the pigs and we expect many more to express their support before the summer is over.
More funds to our summer tour means a possibility to visit more places, print more information material and speak to even more people.
