Project Report | Feb 6, 2026
Thank you for being our first supporters!

By Demi M | Grants Manager

Thank you for being the first supporters of our banteng protection project in Prambei Mom. Your early support has been critical for on-the-ground conservation action, and it is helping us build momentum for long-term protection of this vital habitat.

In 2024, banteng were uplisted to Critically Endangered, making conservation efforts in Prambei Mom more urgent than ever. With your support, we are providing both financial and technical assistance to community forest rangers to strengthen daily patrols, monitor wildlife using camera traps, and collaborate closely with local authorities to ensure wildlife crimes are investigated and offenders fined.

Key progress this period:

  • Rangers conducted daily patrols throughout Prambei Mom Community Forest.
  • No snares were found within the community forest during October and November.
  • In December, rangers removed 18 snares discovered in the neighbouring sugarcane plantation.
  • Banteng continue to move between the plantation and the community forest without incident.
  • Thousands of camera trap images were reviewed, with no evidence of new injuries to banteng.
  • One female banteng previously injured by a snare is recovering well and continues to heal steadily.
  • Many other species identified on camera traps, including long-tailed macaques, red muntjac, golden jackal, porcupine and wild boar.

These results show that consistent patrols and close monitoring are reducing threats for banteng in this landscape. Continued support will allow us to maintain ranger presence, expand monitoring, and strengthen enforcement - ensuring Prambei Mom remains a refuge for this critically endangered species.

Thank you for helping make this possible.
