DPC School is located in Oddar Meanchey Province near Cambodia-Thailand border. It is one of the rural areas where is directly affected by COVID-19.
“Thank God that all of our assisted families are safe from the coronavirus so far, but many families lost their jobs and income. Most of them are Cambodian Migrant Workers who have returned from Thailand after Thai government announced border closure in order to stop spreading of coronavirus on March 21, 2020. Cambodia Ministry of Education (MoE) announced the closure of all public and private educational institutions across the country, and recently decided to put off reopening schools until further notice. The Ministry of Education also announced the launch of the TV programs to support the education of all students in kindergarten, primary and secondary school levels while schools are temporarily closed to contain the spread of coronavirus. Definitely it is really helpful for disadvantaged children who are not able to access the e-learning through internet from home.
It seems that all activities in the school have been cancelled, so our football team also stops training currently. Due to the restrictions, we are unable to visit DPC School but keep contacting several teachers to support their home schooling plan. Currently, there are about 10 DPC teachers joining the plan of home schooling to group 4 to 5 students with a home teacher who will teach them at home and encourage children to receive e-Learning from TV.
TFCF Cambodia won’t stop our services and we are seeking for any opportunity to help children’s education. I would like to invite you to joinus and let’s help them pass this crisis without gap of learning. Thank you!”
- Message from TFCF social worker
TFCF anti-epidemic products arrival!
2020 is the year of the pandemic of COVID-19 in the global. Most of the countries around the world have got infected seriously. There were 125 cases confirmed in Cambodia and 123 people have already recovered up to date. During this challenging time, the Royal Government of Cambodia has announced the travel restrictions and has shuttered all museums, cinemas, concert halls, bars, and karaoke establishments (KTV parlors). Any large religious gatherings are prohibited until further notice. Khmer New Year has also been suspended/postponed. All these changes shall be helpful and ensure the good health and safety of Cambodian people.
In order to help families and communities to fight against coronavirus, we work hard to collect and provide anti-epidemic products in Phnom Penh and delivered them to our assisted families including hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, surgical masks, latex gloves, and forehead thermometers etc.. TFCF anti-epidemic products were also given tofront-line workers inthe District Office, Health Center and Police Stationwho provided the social service in the community. Unfortunately, we are unable to deliver those to DPC School due to the current restriction. However, we will wait and take action immediately once the government announces the release of restrictions. Let’s keep it up and get through this with our assisted children and families together!
Wish you all the best!
With gratitude,
Wen Hung
