Hello to our supporters, new and long-term alike!
We hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of Fall... According to social media and national weather reports, this is the season of Pumpkin Spice flavored everything, comfy sweaters, and trees with color-changing leaves. Here in Southern California, we don't typically have a definitive season change; it might cool down soon, but the leaves 'round here aren't known for their colors changing. Rather than celebrate with hot cider and big blankets, SCP staff and volunteers ring in this time of year by prepping our recent rescues for their release back into the urban wild!
Baby Season 2019 is coming to a close, officially! That means we have not received any fledgling (or younger) parrots into rescue for a few weeks, and the remaining youngsters in care are either completely weaned or very close. Next stop, release back into the wild! We always love seeing the cute baby parrots, but honestly release days are the BEST because they represent a lot of hard work and resources well-spent.
Thanks to continued donations from our supporters here on GlobalGiving, we have already successfully released more than a dozen parrots this year! We have another 55+ parrots (Amazons and Conures) that will be ready to be released in just a few short weeks. We are very proud of our high release rate, and at how many donors and volunteers have helped us grow in such a short amount of time. Thank you for your donation(s), and for continuing to support SoCal Parrot.
If you do not already follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram, be sure to do so as soon as possible. We are currently working on some exciting projects and will be updating more frequently via those platforms. Also, we try to live-stream the wild parrot releases on our social sites, so that nobody misses out on the celebration and excitement!
We hope everyone has a safe and happy Fall!
