Hello and welcome to another quarterly update from SoCal Parrot! Our last message here was all about baby season, which turned out to be another successful one. All of the young parrots we rescued over the Spring/Summer have now "graduated" to outdoor aviary enclosures and will be released soon.
Speaking of releases, we have a LOT of planning and logistical work going on here in the coming weeks. We know exactly where the wild Amazons from both San Diego and Orange County are roosting each evening (oddly enough, both courthouses), so those will be the first rounds of releases. Los Angeles roost sites have changed a bit since last year, so we might have to postpone their release until we have more information. If you or someone you know has a tip on where the flock roosts in/near Pasadena, please let us know!
In addition to releases, we have also started boosting our enrichment and nutrition initiatives here at the rescue. Once the hectic, busy time that is baby season has passed, we like to focus on larger ongoing projects. We are currently putting together plans for volunteer recruitment as well, to be deployed in the first part of 2023.
Thank you for your continued support of our rescue efforts, and for taking the time to catch up on all of what's going on here at SoCal Parrot each quarter!
