Thanks to your generous support, Southern Koala and Echidna Rescue (SKER) has continued to operate South Australia's only full-time wildlife veterinary clinic—providing critical care to over 300 sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals in recent months.
These animals have come from across the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula, and beyond, and represent more than 27 different native species, including koalas, echidnas, kangaroos, tawny frogmouths, kookaburras, possums, and lizards. Each one has received treatment, pain relief, and care that would not have been possible without your help.
Our full-time wildlife vet has been working tirelessly to meet the growing demand—made even more challenging by the closure of other wildlife facilities in the state, which has left SKER carrying the weight of a deeply strained system. With no government funding for wildlife hospitals in South Australia, we continue to rely entirely on community donations and volunteer hours.
Despite being stretched thin, our small team remains deeply committed. We know that behind every animal is a person who cares enough to stop, to call, or to bring them to us—hoping we can make a difference. With your help, we can.
We are now working hard to strengthen our clinic through much-needed equipment upgrades and operational support so we can continue this vital work sustainably.
To our supporters: thank you. You've helped us save lives.
To everyone: please keep sharing our story. The more people who know, the more wildlife we can reach—before it’s too late.
