By Andrew Mullens | Kimbilio Support
Hi, thank you so much for your financial support for this Kimbilio Project to help street girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Girls are so vulnerable on the streets to exploitation and coercion, so the Kimbilio team of carers in Lubumbashi take every step to offer girls the security and warmth of a place in the Kimbilio short-term home while they seek to make contact with their parents.
One of the ways that Kimbilio use to connect to the girls is through art. By enabling the girls to express themselves in art, this can act as a therapy and can restore their sense of dignity and self-worth. One of the carers, Joel, leads this activity and he regularly posts pictures of the girls art on the Kimbilio Facebook page.
The girls are also enrolled in the Kimbilio school so that they can catch up on the education that they may have missed while they were living on the streets and gain the skills that will help them gain a good career when they are older.
