Background
Kamwokya and Kyebando are slum areas in the capital of Uganda and are faced by many challenges. This project aims to help graduating students from the Chusa School of Beauty with funding to start Salons offering hairdressing, styling, cosmetology and bridal services and will help the single mothers and girls to generate an income and leave poverty. These RISE Salons is run in partnership with Human Rights & Science (HR&S) and Action10.
Project update
In the last project update we outlined our early-stage work with setting up the RISE Salons so that the graduates could start working as soon as possible. Since then, we have initiated negotiations with local entrepreneurs that can, together with the graduates, start and scale up the RISE Salons. It is very important that these entrepreneurs have their own ideas and initiatives so that the businesses can be run with genuine passion in a sustainabile way. Action10 together with HR&S support these initiatives financially as well as through the knowledge we can contribute with. We are very eager to get the Salons up and running!
Thank you for your support!
