In the past few months, Fundación Bomberos Argentina has been diligently working towards a crucial mission: supporting and empowering volunteer firefighters across the country. Our relentless efforts and the dedication of these selfless individuals have played a pivotal role in safeguarding lives, protecting communities, and mitigating the devastating impact of fires.
It is crucial to mention Argentina has been dealing with a dangerous combination of soaring temperatures and dry conditions. With precipitation levels in 2022 falling below normal, the country experienced one of the driest periods in over 60 years. This alarming trend, coupled with the scorching heat, has significantly heightened the risk of wildfires. The aridity caused by the prolonged drought and the relentless high temperatures have created a combustible environment, amplifying the urgency for effective fire prevention and response measures.
For this reason, we have been placing all our efforts into the 2023 Bridges of Prevention Campaign, which was activated early, outside the declaration of national emergency, due to the significant number of forest fire incidents that have occurred since January. The firefighting services have been only increasing throughout the months. The Campaign has 3 main objectives:
We have delivered over 6,000 forestry equipment kits to Volunteer Firefighters across the country. According to the Unique Registry of Firefighters in Argentina, there have been more than 12,100 incidents related to vegetation fires in 2023. Among the most notable are grasslands, pastures, landfills, native forests, and planted forests. The data obtained reflects the tremendous need to support volunteer firefighters in the country, considering that personal protective equipment has a short lifespan and is subject to fire resistance based on usage and wear.
On a brighter note, we have launched a Benefits Network for firefighters in Argentina, through which all members of the National System of Volunteer Firefighters can access services and products at preferential rates through partnerships and agreements. Private sector companies are joining in recognition of the work of volunteer firefighters, helping to bridge the social gap within our community by enabling those most in need to access top brands, essential products, and services.
However, it is essential to highlight the pressing need for support that Fundación Bomberos Argentina is currently facing. The organization is confronting a challenging situation compounded by the impact of inflation. As prices continue to rise, it becomes increasingly difficult to secure the funds needed for vital campaigns and initiatives. This unfortunate circumstance hampers the foundation's progress and limits its ability to provide necessary resources and training to volunteer firefighters, compromising their capacity to respond effectively in emergencies.
Your support can make a life-saving difference. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps us face the current difficulties and be able to equip our volunteer firefighters, provide essential training, and ensure the safety of our communities. Your kindness and generosity can empower us to face the challenges ahead with resilience and determination. Please consider donating today and join us in making a tangible impact on the lives of those who bravely serve and protect. Thank you for your compassion and invaluable support.
