The risk situations of single mothers and young women is a priority for Dominican society, since they will be the ones who direct the various sectors in society, becoming fundamental elements for promoting progress and development.
The quarterly report, corresponding to the months of February, March and April 2021, shows the planning carried out focused on achieving the strategic objectives set out in our Strategic Plan, the structuring and definition was developed based on the analysis carried out by the technicians responsible for executing the actions of each of our projects. Especially the project to train single mothers and unprotected young people.
Due to the COVID19 pandemic, our face-to-face training interventions have been reduced. However, we have doubled our efforts to develop solidarity support alternatives for single-family families.
The results focus the efforts, to be able to fulfill the agreed commitments to generate incidence in 75 adolescents, with regard to obtaining the opportunity to participate in decisions within their family and community, improve communication with their families, increase opportunities for their integral development, improve their self-esteem, reduce risk factors, understand the family role, as well as the community role and identify their fundamental rights.
In addition, we have supported these families with donations of food, clothing, and sanitation supplies.
Activities are currently being carried out in the communities of Manresa Altagracia in Santo Domingo, as well as in rural areas of Baní and San Cristóbal, with the participation of 75 families, 50 who belong to the Joint Program and 25 who are not part of said program.
With the implementation of the Project in Santo Domingo, 80 single mothers are being trained, and 75 adolescents and their families are being trained. This is considered an innovative action, because the project not only seeks to create leaders with empowerment of the program, but also reaches the training and family training, generating a greater contribution to the rejection of risk situations in adolescents.
During these first 3 months of execution of the project, dissemination activities have been developed by community leaders in order to reach the goal of care for 75 families, several difficulties have been encountered, the main one being the lack of literacy of the mothers of young people participants, so the proposed methodology has been adapted to images.
We have accompanied our solidarity donation days with talks on empowerment, sexuality and reproduction, as we are aware that there is a risk situation in adolescents and in the community and that the data in this regard is alarming.
We are advancing on the path of supporting the integral development of Dominican single mothers and young women.
We wholeheartedly appreciate the support of so many noble souls who have stood in solidarity with this cause and have made a contribution, no matter how small.
We count on all of you to transform our vision into reality. A great center for socio-emotional support and training for the women of our country.
