In the weeks following the devastating February 6, 2023 earthquakes in Türkiye, the immediate need for emergency aid was immense. As relief efforts transitioned toward long-term recovery, Bridge to Türkiye Fund (BTF), together with a dedicated group of Turkish-American physicians, made a critical commitment: to stand by child amputees not just in crisis, but for years to come. Thus, the Child Amputees of the Türkiye Earthquake (CATE) project was born.
CATE is more than a medical initiative. It is a promise to children and families whose lives were permanently altered, and a reflection of what sustained donor support can achieve. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, BTF helped build a comprehensive, cross-border care network connecting U.S.- and Türkiye-based medical professionals to ensure continuity of care for these vulnerable children.
This collaboration led to the establishment of the Çocuk Iyilik Merkezi (Child Wellness Center) in Türkiye, a safe and supportive space where children receive life-changing services. From prosthetic fittings and physical rehabilitation to trauma-informed psychological care, the center addresses healing in all its dimensions. Today, the Child Wellness Center continues its vital work with the backing of multiple stakeholders, including BTF and its donor community.
Your Impact in 2025
None of this would be possible without our donors. Your compassion and commitment enable children affected by the earthquakes to heal, learn, and envision a future filled with opportunity. Together, we are turning generosity into lasting change.
