Top O' the Mornin!
Move For Hunger is off to a great start for 2012. Ever since the NBC American Giving Awards, we've had tons of young people reach out to us wanting to hold food drives. We figured if there were young people out there willing to fight hunger in their communities, we should be helping them!
A few months ago, two little girls from Monroe, NC, reached out to us wanting to get involved. At that time, Move For Hunger didn't have a mover in that area. These 10 year olds took it upon themselves to call all the moving companies in their area to get some involved. They did just that! We then received a phone call - "Alright, we got you movers, can we hold a food drive at our school?" We did them one better. Our local moving partner donated a truck for a day, and we got permission from a local grocery store to stage the truck outside for the day. We sent t-shirts, fliers, banners, and sent out press releases. The end result:
These little girls collected 6,000 lbs of food in one day for their local food pantry. It was incredible!
Realizing the power of young people, 2012 marks the launch of Move For Hunger's College CanFest. We're giving university students the tools to plan successful events at their schools and launching one of the nation's largest, student led food drives - EVER! Best of all, our movers will do all the heavy lifting and deliver your collections to your local food bank. To start a drive at your school - Click Here.
Finally - Are you a Realtor looking to give back? Move For Hunger proudly announces its Real Estate Program. Real Estate Agents across the nation are joining up with Move For Hunger to educate their clients about hunger in their communities. Thank you for your continued support! We couldn't do what we do without donors like you! We're looking forward to a great 2012!
