We want to introduce you to an amazing girl and our friend Seraya. Seraya is riding on the TransAmerica Bicycle Tour from the east coast of Virginia to the west coast of Washington, totaling 4,305 miles. For 3 months, Seraya is pedaling across the country with a group of 14 cyclists, all while spreading the word about hunger in the local communities that she is traveling through. Her journey began on May 3rd and is scheduled to end on August 3rd. We are so grateful that Seraya has decided to dedicate her cross country bike trek as a ride against hunger. When asked why she wanted to help a charity like ours on this adventure, her response says it all - “There are so many organizations that we are asked to support and I believe in all of those programs, but so much of it goes to research and I wanted to find something that went directly to a movement that will help the people. Hunger in America seems hard to believe when most of us are surrounded by an abundance of food and so often we are tempted by over indulgence. The facts are that 1 in 6 Americans, approximately 50 million people, go to bed hungry. Everyone should have the opportunity to eat when they are hungry, and by supporting an organization like Move For Hunger, we can organize more food drives and spread the food into the right hands.”
Her goal for the ride is $2 a mile, totaling approximately $9,600. She's already raised over $4,000 and we are so thrilled to have her partner with us in the fight against hunger. Also, thanks to modern technology we are able to follow her on this cross country journey. Her blog is just as awesome as she is: http://moveforhunger.org/serayas-ride/.
Here at Move For Hunger we are proud to have Seraya as one of our supporters. Her dedication to the cause and enthusiastic attitude are contagious and we wish her the best of luck on this amazing adventure. Good luck Seraya and thank you for your support!
