Help Us Fight Hunger Across America

It might only be March but the Move For Hunger team is already on our way to making 2015 a record year. We want to thank all of our generous donors, enthusiastic volunteers, and committed partners that have helped expand our mission to reduce food waste and alleviate hunger. We have a tireless network of moving companies, realtors, corporate housing professionals, and relocation companies who go out every day and transform moving into an opportunity to help those in need. Together with all of our supporters we have just delivered over 4.5 MILLION pounds of food to those in need, that's enough for over 4 MILLION meals.

The issues of food waste and hunger are only growing. By working together, we can do better. The USDA estimates that 30-40% of food grown, processed, and transported in America will never be consumed, but rather end up in an landfill. If every one of us made a commitment to reducing food waste, more of our nation's food can go to families in need, not the landfill.

MOVING or KNOW SOMEONE THAT IS MOVING?
Our network now includes over 600 moving companies, tens of thousands of realtors, some of the world's largest relocation companies, and a brand new corporate housing program. For those moving, our website serves as an invaluable resource to find socially responsible moving companies to hire for your relocation needs. Together we can transform relocation into an opportunity to reduce food waste and feed the hungry.

GET SOCIAL - Use that phone we all rely on for good! State senators, congressman, and other government officials rely on communication from you when making policy decisions. Write an email or call your elected official and tell them you support funding for the Federal SNAP program and the child nutrition reauthorization. Take action and spread awareness by using the hastag #MoveForHunger on social media! This past February, the Move For Hunger team joined the NJ Anti Hunger Coalition in Washington DC educating members of Congress about hunger and the need to strengthen legislation. You have the power to make a difference on Capitol Hill!

RUN, RUN, RUN! Team Move For Hunger is a national fundraising program, dedicated to raising awareness of hunger. The funds raised by Team Move For Hunger enable us to continue the expansion of our hunger relief programs. Team Move For Hunger is open to any and all runners regardless of age, type of race or skill level. It doesn't matter if you are just starting out or a seasoned marathoner, you can turn your race into a run against hunger.

We know that we still have a ton yet to accomplish. This year will be a year of awareness, collaboration, and impact. It will also be a year of adventures as we visit new cities, create new partnerships, run new races, and share peoples stories.
