The holidays are here, and I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you all the things I am thankful for this year.
I am thankful for my family: They are always there for me and made me who I am today. Even more, I was lucky enough to marry the girl of my dreams this year!
I am thankful for my friends: I've met so many amazing people from all across the globe. They keep me inspired, humble, and motivated to continue to press on with the important work we're doing.
I am thankful for my staff and our interns: I wish you all could see how hard they work behind-the-scenes. Our team may be small, but we sure are mighty!
And I am thankful for all of the people who are helping us do extraordinary things. I'm thankful for movers like Bill and Freddy, who wrapped five of their company's trucks to help raise awareness about hunger in our nation's capital. I'm thankful for partners like Victory Packaging, whose fourth annual company-wide food drive brought in over 25,000 pounds of food. I'm thankful for people in the relocation industry like Christine and Mary Ann of the Corporate Housing Providers Association, who organized a volunteer shift at a homeless shelter in New York City as part of their regional conference last month. I'm thankful for individuals like Jay, who turned his weekly card game into an opportunity to fight hunger in Indianapolis, and Jordan, who just competed in his 5th race as a member of Team Move For Hunger.
And, last but not least, I am thankful for the hundreds of people from all across the United States and Canada who have hosted food drives with us this year, like the students at the University of Michigan who collected 2,300 meals for their local food bank.
I am so thankful for everything we've been able to accomplish together, but the sobering truth is that our work is far from finished. Most of us will come together on Thursday to celebrate our good fortune; meanwhile, nearly 50 million of our fellow Americans are unsure of where they will find their next meal, let alone a Thanksgiving feast.
On behalf of the entire Move For Hunger team, thank you. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend in the company of your family and friends.
-Adam
