By Heather Keefe | Director of Partnerships
Move for Hunger is a grassroots non-profit with a national reach. We’ve achieved this distinction thanks to you! Move for Hunger is proud to have created a robust network of partners who believe passionately that we can work together to reduce hunger and food waste.
We’ve been analyzing our successes in 2016 and planning how to improve the lives of even more families in 2017.
Last year, Move for Hunger collected more than 1.4 million pounds of food, which provided more than 1.2 million meals to families in need! We were busier than ever mobilizing food drives – more than 550 of them! Move for Hunger is proud to partner with individuals, associations, community groups, and businesses – including more than 700 moving companies – to harness our collective power to get food onto the tables of those who need it most.
It’s hard to believe that nearly 50 million Americans don’t have enough to eat when 40 percent of all food produced in the United States ends up being thrown away. Food insecurity and food waste are prevalent in every community, among all ages, including families who “never thought they’d need a food bank.” In 2017, Move for Hunger will conduct more “foodraisers, friendraisers, and fundraisers” because food, people, and money are at the heart of our collaborative success.
Together, we can bring the Move for Hunger movement into our everyday lives – raising food, awareness, and funds at corporate and community events, telling the Move for Hunger story, and reminding people that food insecurity and food waste are unacceptable in 2017.
THANK YOU for energizing our cause, taking action, and inspiring others to Move for Hunger.
