Move For Hunger was founded with a simple concept: "donate food when you move." Founder Adam Lowy grew up working with his family's 100-year-old moving company, and he saw how much food was thrown away during the moving process because of lack of knowledge - not lack of interest. Giving people an easy means to donate food, with a socially conscious mover, sparked Move For Hunger and the iniatiative to make food rescue part of the moving process.
Back in 2009, what Move For Hunger didn't realize is 40 percent of all the food grown, produced, and transported in the United States ends up in a landfill or rotting in the field. 40 percent! Food waste was a problem no one was talking about, but that's no longer the case.
Move For Hunger is thrilled to share the brand-new About Food Waste page. It's a thorough and concise overview of how food is being wasted at every level of the supply chain and what we can do to help.
Please take a few moments today to visit the page and learn more about how food waste, in addition to being unconscionable in a country where more than 42 million people are hungry, has negative economic and environmental consequences. Help raise awareness on social media by sharing About Food Waste.
THANK YOU for investing in Move For Hunger and being part of the solution. Together, we can take concrete steps to eradicate hunger and food waste, creating a better world for ourselves and our children.
