We are deeply grateful for your continued support towards our burns unit at Whisper’s Children’s Hospital in Uganda. Your generosity has helped us treat some of the most vulnerable children—those who come to us with severe, life-threatening burns.
Every week, we receive young patients in critical condition, often brought in too late or after harmful home treatments involving local herbs. These children suffer immense pain and are at high risk of infection, especially sepsis, which is a leading cause of death in severe burn cases. The care they require is intensive and expensive. It involves daily wound dressings, strict hygiene, and consistent access to supplies like Vaseline gauze, antibiotic creams, sterile gloves, and pain medication.
Because of your support, we have been able to save over 50 children in recent months. One such case involved a child whose burn wounds had become septic due to the use of herbal remedies at home. He arrived at our hospital in a desperate state. Thanks to the resources you helped provide, our team was able to manage his condition, perform daily dressing changes, administer antibiotics, and guide him through a full recovery. Today, he is back home and thriving.
However, the need remains urgent and constant. Treating severe burns requires a continuous supply of medical items and specialized care. With more children arriving each week, our resources are often stretched thin. We rely on your compassion and generosity to continue delivering the level of care these children desperately need.
Your donations make a direct and powerful impact. They are the reason a child survives a severe burn. They are the reason a mother gets to take her child home alive. Thank you for standing with us. Together, we can continue to save lives and offer hope where there was once only pain and fear.
