Tigers, forests, and a greener future

In April, we launched our brand-new Environmental Hub in Putao, Kachin State. Nestled in the Himalayan foothills and close to the Hukawng Valley, home to some of the world’s last wild tigers, this is a region of extraordinary global biodiversity. Already, the Hub is buzzing with energy and ideas, bringing people together to learn, share, and take action for their environment.

At the launch, local schools, eco-businesses, hiking clubs, and community groups came together to explore sustainable farming, water conservation, and eco-tourism.

Since then, the Hub has been alive with activity. In Par Khi village, children, teachers, and community leaders planted over 250 trees, laying the foundations of a community-protected forest. High school students have joined training sessions on biodiversity, climate change, and everyday sustainable practices. Younger students at nearby Hu Hko Monastery showcased their creativity through an environmental storytelling competition, And in partnership with the local Department of Agriculture, we’ve delivered hands-on training in sustainable farming and conservation, strengthening skills that protect both livelihoods and landscapes.

In just a few months, hundreds of children and community members have already been part of activities at the Hub, a source of knowledge and action for protecting this unique environment.

Looking ahead, we’ll keep building on this momentum with more community-led conservation projects, environmental education, and sustainable farming training. Step by step, together, we are helping the people of Putao safeguard their forests, rivers, and wildlife for the future.

Thank you for making this possible!
